Adult Christian Education
St. Mary's offers many opportunities for adult Christian education, fellowship and spiritual formation. The following groups meet regularly and welcome newcomers:- Adult Education (class schedule...)
- Held during the Christian Education hour beginning at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday morning, the classes cover a variety of topics to address spiritual and temporal needs. There are usually three options from which to choose: a discussion of the Gospel reading for the week, as well as classes which address a variety of topics proposed by the congregation and clergy. Please check the current schedule for upcoming topics.
- Men's Bible Study Group
- Meets Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. in Waldron Hall for breakfast, conversation and learning. For more information, please contact Michael Burke.
- Men's Book Study Group
- Gathers at the Greek Corner at 6:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month & meets at Title Wave Books at 7:00 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays. For more information, please contact Eric Wohlforth.
- Women's Book Group
- Gathers at the Greek Corner at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month & meets at Title Wave Books at 7:00 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of the month. For more information, please contact Ruth Fahl.
- Bible Workbench
- This class meets once a week to explore one of the lectionary readings in depth. Materials cost $10 per month and you can join in at any time. Please contact Eric or Caroline Wohlforth for more information.
There are also a variety of special events and short term programs, including fellowship dinners and retreats, which might be of interest to you. Please watch for announcements in the Monarch Newsletter and the Sunday Bulletin. Should you like to start a new group, a variety of resources are available to support your ministry. - The groups below meet on a weekly basis throughout the year and require advanced registration:
- JustFaith
- A
30-week, immersion in prayer, study, reflection and action which seeks
answers to our social justice calling. The primary focus is on domestic
and international poverty, with foundational insights of the Bible,
theology, and spirituality. JustFaith is an ecumenical program offered
in partnership with Bread for the World. For more information, please

- Education for Ministry
- A
four year, non-degree program for the laity, offered through The
University of the South. Through a process known as Theological
Reflection, EfM enables us to focus on and compare what we read in the
scriptures and encounter in the world. EfM is international and
interdenominational, enrolling more than 9000 students annually. For
