Cobblers are great when you want a quick, simple dessert that doesn't require much attention while it's baking, and this one is even easier than most - give it a try!
6 tablespoons butter (3/4 of a stick)
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
a pinch of salt
3/4 cup milk
2 cups blueberries, sliced peaches, or other fruit
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put the butter into a 9-inch square baking pan and let it melt in the oven while you prepare the other ingredients. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; mix with the milk, and pour the resulting batter into the hot pan with the melted butter. Top with the fruit, and bake for 45 minutes or until browned and bubbly around the edges.
