Doing Good in the World

Mission Outreach Grant Awards

Each year, St. Mary’s provides a total of about $10,000 in endowment-supported grant funding for small, community-oriented non-profit organizations and church outreach activities through the Mission Outreach Grant project. This year, the application review team has chosen 11 grant recipients, which we are highlighting in the newsletter so that the whole congregation can share in the joy and blessing that our church family is bringing to others through this work.

Campus Landscape and Plantings Improvement Team

In the last few years, around 500 beetle-killed black spruce trees have been removed from our church campus. At the same time, the Dreaming Our Future project has identified considerable interest among members of St. Mary's in emphasizing the aesthetic and spiritual value of the land we steward. In response, the campus landscape team, working in coordination with Dreaming Our Future, has developed a plan to "spruce" up our church grounds, with the goal of reforesting and revitalizing the natural spaces while creating and improving access so that this beautiful place can be enjoyed by all. The plan includes the construction of gardens, an orchard, benches, and walking paths. A grant of $1,300 was awarded to the team to fund the purchase of flowering shrubs and fruiting trees.

The local congregation of St. Mary's in Anchorage lives, works, and gathers for worship on the unceded lands of the Dena'ina people. We acknowledge the trauma caused by racism and oppression in the United States and the Church, and are committed to learning, growing, and working for meaningful healing and change.

Phones Currently Unavailable

The church phones are currently not working well - we have no voicemail, and calls are often dropped without warning. We are in the process of replacing the old phone system, but have run into delays. If you would like to contact one of our clergy or office staff, please use the email address below their name on our staff page. If you have a pastoral emergency and need to contact a priest, please call 907-535-1495.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We Believe:

...that God is calling us to grow and deepen our relationship with God in Christ Jesus, by becoming an ever more active inviting, inclusive and multicultural community of faith, intentionally inter-generational from infant to elder, always reaching out to those within and outside our community, with many small group opportunities in which to share and live our faith. We'd love for you to be a part of our lives together.

Inclusion Connect Card

Giving is a powerful spiritual practice. It's a statement of gratitude and trust in God.

At St. Mary's we encourage all our members to prayerfully consider giving abundantly toward causes that serve God's mission. We ask that part of that intentional giving be a pledge of financial support to our parish, both so our leadership can plan ahead in making a budget, and as a tangible commitment to what God is doing here at St. Mary's.
