Serve - Our Community

St. Mary's participates in local and statewide outreach programs. They are:

F.I.S.H.

F.I.S.H. ("Fellowship in Serving Humanity") is a volunteer group of Anchorage residents who provide and deliver emergency food to people and families in need.

F.I.S.H. has no paid staff, but 70 community volunteers answer phones, buy and collect, repackage, and deliver food. They are a partner agency of the Food Bank of Alaska, which helps to supply the pantry and are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

St. Mary's Community Garden

The Community Garden comprises 24 raised-bed plots on the St. Mary's campus. We welcome gardeners with all levels of experience to sign up to care for a garden plot over the summer. We work together to tend the earth, share potlucks, and learn from each other in safe, healthy outdoor social time whether we're weeding or eating - our motto is "90% community, 10% garden". There is no charge to claim a plot, but we do ask that you donate around 50% of your harvest to a local food bank or similar organization.

Christians for Equality

Christians for Equality is a coalition of Christian leaders, clergy and laity, who come together to:

  • offer mutual aid and support for one another

We Believe:

...that God is calling us to grow and deepen our relationship with God in Christ Jesus, by becoming an ever more active inviting, inclusive and multicultural community of faith, intentionally inter-generational from infant to elder, always reaching out to those within and outside our community, with many small group opportunities in which to share and live our faith. We'd love for you to be a part of our lives together.

Inclusion Connect Card

Giving is a powerful spiritual practice. It's a statement of gratitude and trust in God.

At St. Mary's we encourage all our members to prayerfully consider giving abundantly toward causes that serve God's mission. We ask that part of that intentional giving be a pledge of financial support to our parish, both so our leadership can plan ahead in making a budget, and as a tangible commitment to what God is doing here at St. Mary's.
